1. Agreement to These Terms

By using ricepurityscores.com, you agree to these Terms and Conditions. They are deliberately written to be read, not just clicked past. If you don't agree with any part of them, please don't use the site.

These terms apply to everyone who visits the site, on any device, and they cover the test, the themed editions, the guides, and everything else published here.

2. What This Site Is

Rice Purity Scores is an independently run website that hosts the Rice Purity Test — a traditional 100-question checklist — together with four themed editions and a set of explanatory guides. It is provided free of charge, for entertainment and light-hearted self-reflection.

We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Rice University or any other educational institution. The test originated at Rice University many decades ago; that history doesn't make this an official university website, and nothing here speaks for the university.

3. What the Test Is Not

Your score is not a scientific measurement, a psychological assessment, a medical result, or a judgement of your character, maturity, or worth. The test counts how many items on one particular list apply to you — nothing more. There is no passing or failing score, and we ask you not to treat the result as advice about your life, your health, or your relationships. If a question touches on something risky or illegal, how you handle that in real life matters; your number on a quiz does not.

4. Age and Suitability

Parts of the question list cover mature themes, because the test was created by and for university students. The site is intended for older teenagers and adults. If you are a parent or guardian, the full list of questions is visible on the homepage, and you're welcome to review it before deciding whether it's appropriate for your child.

5. Acceptable Use

You're welcome to take the test as often as you like and to share your score wherever you like. In return, we ask for ordinary good behaviour: don't attempt to disrupt the site, overload it, probe it for vulnerabilities, or access it in ways that interfere with other visitors. Don't use automated tools to scrape the site at a scale that burdens it, and don't present the site or its content as your own work or as an official product of any university.

6. Our Content

The writing, design, structure, and original material on this site — the guides, the explanations, the themed question editions we wrote, and the look of the pages — belong to this site and are protected as our work. The traditional Standard edition questions are a piece of campus folklore that has circulated for generations; we don't claim to have invented them. You may quote short passages with a clear credit and a link back to the page you took them from. Copying entire guides or question lists, or republishing them as your own, requires our written permission first — a quick email is all it takes to ask.

7. Your Results Belong to You

Because the test runs entirely in your browser, your answers and score are yours alone. We don't receive them, store them, or claim any right over them. If you share your result publicly, that's your choice and your responsibility.

8. Availability and Changes

We work to keep the site online, accurate, and working on current phones and browsers, but we can't guarantee uninterrupted availability, and pages may change, move, or be corrected over time. The meaning of the test doesn't change when a guide is rewritten — but wording, layout, and features will evolve as we maintain the site.

9. Third-Party Links and Services

Some pages link to external websites — for example, to Rice University from our history article — and our pages load fonts from Google Fonts. Those third parties run their own services under their own terms and privacy policies. We aren't responsible for their content or practices, and following a link takes you out of these terms and into theirs.

10. A Straightforward Word on Liability

The site is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for losses arising from using or being unable to use the site, or from taking a quiz result more seriously than it deserves to be taken. Nothing in these terms removes rights that can't legally be removed, and if a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest still stand.

11. Changes to These Terms

If we update these terms, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date at the top. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
