Introduction
This page explains, in plain language, what happens to information when you use ricepurityscores.com. The short version is short because the truth here is simple: this is an anonymous quiz site. There are no accounts, no sign-ups, and no profiles β and your test answers are never collected by us at all. The longer version below fills in the details, including the few ordinary technical things that happen whenever anyone visits any website.
Your Test Answers and Scores
When you take the Rice Purity Test on this site, everything happens inside your own web browser. Ticking boxes, watching the progress bar move, pressing Calculate and seeing your score β all of that is computed on your device, by code running on the page itself. Your answers are not sent to our server, not stored in a database, and not visible to us or to anyone else. We could not look up your score even if you asked us to, because there is nothing to look up.
One convenience feature is worth explaining properly. If you leave the test half-finished and come back later, the page can remember your ticks. It does that using your browser's local storage β a small storage space that lives on your own device, under your control. Nothing about it leaves your device. Pressing the Clear button removes those saved ticks, and you can also erase them at any time through your browser's own settings for clearing site data.
The same applies to small preferences like dark mode and your chosen language. They are remembered locally, on your device, so the site looks the way you left it. They are not accounts, and they are not synced anywhere.
Information Websites Collect Just by Being Websites
Like virtually every site on the internet, our hosting server keeps standard access logs. When your browser asks our server for a page, the server notes the basics it needs to do its job and to keep the site secure: the page requested, the time, your IP address, and the type of browser and device making the request. These logs are part of how hosting works β they help with security, with diagnosing errors, and with understanding in broad terms whether pages are loading properly.
We do not use these logs to identify individual visitors, to build profiles, or to follow anyone around the internet. This site does not run third-party advertising trackers, and we do not sell, rent, or trade visitor information β there is barely any information here to begin with, and what little exists stays where it belongs.
Cookies and Similar Storage
The test itself does not need marketing or tracking cookies, and we don't set any for advertising. The local storage described above does the remembering β your in-progress answers, your theme, your language. If our hosting or security systems set a strictly technical cookie to deliver pages safely and quickly, it is there to make the site function, not to watch you. You can block or clear cookies and site data in your browser at any time; the test will still work, it simply won't remember an unfinished attempt.
Fonts and External Resources
Our pages load their typefaces from Google Fonts. That means your browser contacts Google's servers to fetch the font files, and Google can see the technical basics of that request, as described in Google's own privacy policy. We link out to a small number of external websites as well β for example to Rice University in our history article β and once you follow a link and leave this site, that site's own privacy practices apply, not ours. We'd always suggest glancing at a site's policy if you're handing it anything personal; on this site, you aren't.
If You Email Us
The one place real personal information can reach us is the inbox. If you write to us, we receive whatever you put in the email β your address, your name if you include it, and the contents of your message. We use that only to read and reply to you. We don't add you to a mailing list (there isn't one), we don't pass your address to advertisers, and we don't keep messages longer than they're useful for answering follow-ups and keeping a record of corrections people have reported.
Age Note
Some of the 100 questions touch on mature themes β relationships, alcohol, and similar parts of adult life are woven through the traditional list, because the test was written by and for university students. The site is intended for older teenagers and adults who can take it in that spirit. It collects nothing from anyone of any age, but younger children are not its audience, and parents who are unsure should feel free to look through the questions first β they're all visible on the homepage before a single box is ticked.
Changes to This Policy
If how the site works ever changes in a way that affects privacy β if we add a feature that handles information differently β we will update this page and change the date at the top. The version published here is always the current one.
Questions About Privacy
If anything on this page is unclear, ask us. You can reach us through our Contact page or by emailing admin@ricepurityscores.com, and we'll explain in plain words β same as we tried to write this.
